General Care

Kalvė Jewellery is designed for daily wear and built to last. Each piece is made from natural materials that respond to how they're treated. With consistent care, your jewellery can be worn for decades.

Remove pieces before bathing, swimming, or exercising. Avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, hairspray, and cleaning products. These accelerate wear and can affect both surface finish and structural integrity. Put jewellery on last and remove it first — this simple habit extends the life of every piece significantly.

Store items separately in soft pouches or a lined jewellery box. Materials can scratch or damage each other when stored together. Handle with care during wear and storage. Natural materials age visibly over time — this is expected. How quickly depends on use, environment, and maintenance.

Baltic Amber

Amber is fossilized resin formed over millions of years. Lightweight and warm to the touch, it's naturally softer than stone or metal and requires careful handling.

Avoid prolonged exposure to water, heat, and sudden temperature changes — these can cause cloudiness or cracking. Clean amber gently with a soft, dry cloth. Never use ultrasonic or steam cleaners. Store amber away from direct sunlight to preserve color and clarity.

Over time, amber may develop a softer surface — a natural sign of wear rather than damage. This patina is part of the material's character.

Sterling Silver

Our sterling silver is rhodium-plated, which provides protection against tarnishing and oxidation. With proper care, the plating maintains its finish for years of regular wear.

Store pieces in a dry place when not worn. Moisture accelerates wear on any plated surface. Wipe gently with a soft cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue. If tarnishing occurs despite the rhodium plating — which can happen at high-wear points over time — use a mild silver polishing cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water and humidity.

Gold-Plated Jewellery

Gold-plated pieces require care to preserve their finish. The plating is durable under normal wear but will thin over time at high-contact areas — clasps, ring bands, edges. This is expected material behavior.

Avoid friction and impact where possible. Remove pieces before water exposure, exercise, or sleep. Do not use abrasive cleaning cloths or chemical cleaners — these strip plating faster than natural wear. Clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Store each piece individually to prevent rubbing against other items.

Gold plating will show wear over years of regular use. This reflects use, not a defect. Some prefer the worn patina that develops, others maintain the original finish through careful handling. Both are valid.
